I liked the book. It really makes you think about the social, political and personal consequences of a truly total war.

How else would you categorize a war to the death with zombies!

I even used an excerpt from the book to run a pick up game at SpoCon.

I called it "Maple Leaf Rag". It's what happens when Canadian Light Infantry run into zombies for the first time while hunting for terrorists in Afghanistan. My kids enjoyed it up to the point they got overrun and eaten.

I really recommend the book to anyone running Necropolis. It's a bit spendy, but I think worth it.

How old are your kids again? Aren't you afraid they'll get nightmares and then keep you up in the middle of the night? Very Happy

Yes, but your kids are British. Say what you will about the Brits, but they're not just mean, they're also prepared. Cool

I hope you mean 'mean' in the context of tough rather than miserly!

I will agree this is a very good book and something i am think of using the Necropolis rules to run a campaign in a current setting with Zombies. I think some will also like the Monster Island book which has a bit of a twist on the whole zombie thing and is book 1 in a 3 book series.

You can set up a trial account, which gives you a free credit, and you can download it.

My kids are 10 and 13. They are pretty tough minded, but I cut back on the gore when I am running games for my kids. I play up the good versus evil aspect and generally try to use gaming as a tool to teach ethics. Having said that ethically speaking there is really no point to "Maple Leaf Rag". Except of course to teach them that sometimes there are no win scenarios in life and that sometimes how you die matters just as much as the way you live.

As to whether or not British kids are mean (as in tough). I remember the first time I played futbol with them. I was the only American on the pitch and the oft repeated words "give em the boot Yank!" will ring in my ears until the day I die. Needless to say my version of tackling and the European version is vastly divergent. Razz

Huge fan as well... The audiobook is really good too. Talented celebrity narrators. And while waiting for the movie adaption that may or may not get done, it hits a spot.
