Start with one of the official adventures or simply by one of the scenes of the Encounter Book.

When you and your group are already up for a longer campaign, take the Frost Giants Saga as the frame for your campaign, filled up by other official adventures or scenarios of your own choice - some converted PF adventure paths for their version of Hellfrost.

Ok, have to say, I'm really disappointed

I've just spent nearly £40 on the Hellfrost Player's Guide and Gazeteer. They've just turned up and I find there's an errata listing - and it's not the simple type where you can just underline and insert text. It's blocks of text, clarifications, and things not updated to reflect a change in rules (power points, barrier spell to name two).

Fair enough, but my biggest issue with all this, is that the books I have received were printed 2009. Hasn't there been a reprint in 4 years?

I'm disappointed not so much at the errata (it happens), but it's the type of errata and the fact that the books haven't been reprinted in a while. Hey no call for a reprint? I understand that, but I'm still disappointed

Has there been a reprint since 2009?

Hi,

I'm designing a Resource for a local hearth knight group and stumbled upon a question:
How do the Hearthknights finance themselfs? Where does the money for the forts and soldiers come from?
Are they backed by local lords? Spoils of war? Do the Hearthland nobles donate to them?

Kind regards,
Odium

Trade itself is at a mimimum, since the Hearth Knights have no real exports to speak of (as the Gazetteer tells us). So the money comes from donations, heritages, and the usual tithes, tariffs and taxes for using the Hearth Knights library and services, passing through Hellfrost Keep, and buying gear at and protection in one of their fortifications. Some of their funds may even come from simple looting the ruins dotting the lands they patrol.

Remember that in the areas the Knights operate, most trade is still handled by barter. So most of their "riches" exist in the form of favors to the different people, temples, settlements and powers in and around Heligioland and neighboring realms they have some influence.

As the Gazetteer indicates the funds of the order are notable, but limited. Building and maintaining those forts stretches their budget constantly, as the threads they swore to oppose rises in influence.

To expand slightly on Enno's list -- donations from the cults of Kenaz and Sigel. Many Heligioland settlements would likely tithe a portion of their crops. Knights wouldn't get much in the way of wages -- the order provides room, provisions, equipment, and accommodation. Nothing to say they don't own farming estates in Heligioland, either. Absence of evidence (i.e. nothing officially written about them) is not evidence of absence.
