I was reading up on the "Justice" section of the Rassilon expansion and came to that shield sundering duel, took me back to the first time I saw "13th Warrior" and I know other players would love to try something like that.

Yeah, that little poem is about a person getting sacrificed to a dragon, surprisingly fitting no?

For those who like painting minis, the West Wind range might come in handy.

And the dwarven war mammoth looks massive!

Could serve nicely as a view of Witchwood or the Frozen Forest.

I found inspiration in the movies The Grey, and The Thing (82), have not seen the new one so can't speak for it. The grey is more accurate for the bad-guys, but both get the "it is frickin cold out" down.

Also use a bit of 30 days of night, and Pathfinder (crap movie, but is it vikings).

Just my .02,

Mac

How about some musical inspiration? I could envision a party gathered around the hearth in a tavern listening to a skald sing this, Age of Oppression (covered by Malukah)

We drink to our youth, to the days come and gone.
For the age of oppression is now nearly done.
We'll drive out the Empire from this land that we own.
With our blood and our steel we will take back our home.

All hail to Ulfric! You are the High King!
In your great honor we drink and we sing.

We're the children of Skyrim, and we fight all our lives.
And when Sovngarde beckons, every one of us dies!
But this land is ours and we'll see it wiped clean.
Of the scourge that has sullied our hopes and our dreams
....

Or if you're inclined to support the other side, Age of Aggression (again covered by Malukah)

We drink to our youth, to the days come and gone,
For the age of aggression is just about done.
We'll drive out the Stormcloaks and restore what we own,
With our blood and our steel we will take back our home.

Down with Ulfric, the killer of kings,
On the day of your death we will drink and we'll sing.

We're the children of Skyrim and we fight all our lives,
And when Sovngarde beckons, every one of us dies!
But this land is ours and we'll see it wiped clean,
Of the scourge that has sullied our hopes and our dreams.

Or the coming of the Dragonborn

Our hero, our hero, claims a warrior’s heart
I tell you, I tell you, the Dragonborn comes
With a Voice wielding power of the ancient Nord art
Believe, believe, the Dragonborn comes
It’s an end to the evil, of all Skyrim’s foes
Beware, beware, the Dragonborn comes
For the darkness has passed, and the legend yet grows
You’ll know, You’ll know the Dragonborn’s come

I think it has been already mentioned, but all the viking metal albums from Bathory are such a good fit.

I'm a big fan of creating atmosphere and using music.

Grand Magus is a good one for Hellfrost, they're a Swedish metal band that rocks.

The song "Son of the Last Breath" is the track I plan to use as my campaign's theme song...a bit "Firefly-ish" at first, but should get everyone's attention to come to the table it's time to start the game since there will be stuff like Sabbath playing during f-around pre-game time.

I'm blown away...

The landscapes.

The music.

It's like I'm remembering something. Hearing cords strummed across my soul.

wow....
